On Saturday, December 21, 2024, around 6:30 p.m., Cumby Police Officer Foster responded to a motor vehicle accident at the 110-mile marker on Interstate 30 westbound. Upon arrival, Officer Foster found a silver Acura and a man standing nearby, later identified as Charlie Albert Hoskinson.
During the investigation, Officer Foster observed Hoskinson exhibiting signs of impairment, including unsteady balance, slurred speech, and glassy eyes. Although there was no odor of alcohol, Officer Foster, a former narcotics agent, identified symptoms consistent with narcotic use.
Hoskinson was seen repeatedly fumbling with his hooded sweatshirt. When questioned, he produced a nearly full bottle of 2mg Alprazolam (Xanax) pills without a prescription label. Hoskinson admitted to taking some of the pills earlier in the day and confirmed he did not have a valid prescription.
Hoskinson was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3 (<28g). After consenting to a blood test at a local hospital, he was transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center.
