Motorcyclist Dies After High-Speed Collision in Killeen

A 29-year-old male motorcyclist is deceased following a collision with a vehicle in Killeen on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

At 12:09 p.m., Killeen Police were dispatched to the intersection of Stan Schlueter Loop and Hitchrock Drive for a crash involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers discovered the motorcyclist had sustained critical injuries. Paramedics from the Killeen Fire Department transported him to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:56 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was operating a white Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Stan Schlueter Loop at an extremely high rate of speed while weaving through traffic. The rider attempted to brake to avoid colliding with a Toyota sedan turning onto Hitchrock Drive but lost control, separating from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist struck the sedan, while the motorcycle continued traveling westbound, eventually stopping in the 2500 block of Stan Schlueter Loop.

The driver of the sedan was uninjured, and the motorcyclist's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate the fatal crash.
