On Tuesday morning, December 10, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Sulphur Springs Police officers responded to an assault in progress in the 100 block of Cotton Street.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Jerrett Lamar Devont Grant, allegedly struck his seven-month pregnant wife twice in the head with a closed fist before fleeing the scene. Officers observed the victim, visibly distressed, with a swollen, red mark on her forehead.
Grant was located and taken into custody shortly after the incident. The victim has requested a Magistrate's Order for Emergency Protection.
Grant has been charged with Assault of a Pregnant Person, and his bond was set at $20,000.
