Smith County Fire Marshal Chad Hogue Reappointed for Second Term

Smith County Fire Marshal Chad Hogue was reappointed Tuesday to a second two-year term by the Smith County Commissioners Court. His reappointment, set to take effect on December 20, 2024, follows a unanimous vote by the court.

Hogue, initially appointed to the role on September 19, 2023, will be sworn in for his second term on the same date. His extensive career in emergency management and firefighting spans over two decades.

Before serving as Smith County Fire Marshal, Hogue worked as the assistant emergency management coordinator and deputy fire marshal for Smith County starting in January 2017. His prior roles include serving as a Smith County Sheriff’s Deputy from 2015 to 2017, Gregg County Fire Marshal from 2012 to 2015, and lieutenant firefighter and EMT for the Gladewater Fire Department from 1999 to 2008.

Hogue has also been involved in training future firefighters, instructing Fire Academy Cadets through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection from 2010 to 2015, and serving as a guest instructor at Texas A&M University’s Municipal Fire School.
