In the early hours of Saturday, November 30th, 41-year-old Toniesha Roshelle Hines of Canton, Texas, was arrested by Commerce Police officers on six open warrants. Three of these warrants were related to offenses from 2003 and 2007, including charges of no liability insurance, violating a promise to appear, and theft by check.
The remaining three warrants were more serious and were issued by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office for insufficient surety bond (INSB) on charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. INSB refers to a situation where a person already released on bond for an offense is arrested for a new offense.
Hines, also known by the name Toneisha Savage, was arrested in connection with the July 13, 2022, murder of 19-year-old Jamiah McCoy. McCoy was found with a gunshot wound at the Tides Apartments in Lake Highlands, Dallas. Another 30-year-old female was also found shot but survived.
Originally released on bond with an ankle monitor, Hines violated her conditions by making unauthorized stops in Greenville and Commerce. She is now being held without bond at the Hunt County Detention Center, awaiting her pretrial in February 2025.
