The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Unit has partnered with the Recovery Resource Council and AMR Hunt County to introduce a new Overdose Response Team (ORT) aimed at providing immediate support for individuals who have survived an overdose.
Launched in November 2024, the ORT is a post-overdose follow-up program that sends a recovery support peer specialist to visit individuals who have experienced an overdose. The program’s mission is to offer guidance, educational resources, and connections to treatment options, assisting survivors in their journey to recovery.
Hunt County Sheriff’s Office officials expressed their commitment to working alongside the Recovery Resource Council and AMR Hunt County to provide essential support for individuals impacted by overdoses. The initiative is designed to strengthen the community’s efforts in addressing the ongoing challenges posed by substance abuse and overdose.
