Burglars Targeting Vehicles in Southern Hopkins County: Sheriff's Office Seeks Community Help

Wanted suspects

The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of motor vehicle burglaries reported in southern Hopkins County. Authorities have received multiple calls regarding these incidents, which have involved at least four individuals who traveled along FM 1567 and nearby County Roads. The suspects entered unlocked vehicles and stole personal property, including firearms.

The investigation, in collaboration with other regional law enforcement agencies, suggests that these suspects may have targeted vehicles in several jurisdictions south of Hopkins County. Deputies and investigators are actively working with the community to gather evidence, video footage, and information from affected areas.

Residents in the impacted regions are urged to assist in the investigation by reviewing any security camera footage from October 14, 2024, between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. It appears the suspects began their spree in southeastern Hopkins County, near the Black Oak community, and traveled east, concluding near Miller Grove in southwestern Hopkins County around 4 a.m.

Authorities emphasize the importance of checking cameras even if no items appear to be missing, as the suspects were reported to check doors and move on to other properties if they found them locked.

The Sheriff's Office has also requested that community members view the videos associated with this case and report any information regarding the suspects or suspect vehicles. Anyone with information can contact the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office at (903) 438-4040 or Lake Country Crime Stoppers at (903) 885-2020.

In light of these incidents, residents are reminded to lock their doors and secure personal items, especially firearms, as unlocked vehicles are prime targets for theft.
