On the morning of October 7th, multiple campuses within Greenville Independent School District (ISD) reported power and network outages. In response, the Greenville ISD administration and maintenance crews promptly contacted Greenville Electric Utility System (GEUS) for assistance.
By 11:15 AM, power was restored at all affected campuses, allowing normal operations to resume.
GEUS reported that crews successfully rerouted power to reenergize all customers while repairs were underway.
The outage was attributed to the failure of a lightning arrester on a substation transformer, which is designed to divert lightning strikes and prevent outages during storms. GEUS expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of students, staff, and families during the disruption.
The district expressed appreciation for the patience of students, staff, and families during the disruption and extended gratitude to the utility company and their team for their swift efforts in resolving the issues.
