On August 28, 2024, Hunt County deputies arrested Anthony Scott Murphy, 41, of Quinlan on multiple charges, including evading arrest with a vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony, evading arrest or detention, and reckless driving.
The incident began after 8 PM when a stolen vehicle was spotted driving on FM 513 towards Lone Oak. A high-speed pursuit ensued involving the Hunt County Sheriff's Office, Rains County Sheriff's Office, Hawk Cove Police Units, and Lone Oak Police Officers.
The chase concluded when officers successfully deployed spike strips, causing the vehicle to become disabled on FM 1571. Murphy exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly afterward.
The investigation revealed other crimes and Murphy was charged accordingly.
