Commerce Police Chief Resigns

Police Chief Kalei Beelitz

On July 1, 2024, Police Chief Kalei Beelitz submitted his resignation from his position with the City of Commerce.

Chief Beelitz stated, "I am thankful and deeply honored by the opportunity I've had to serve this community. I hold the Department and its staff in the highest regard and wish them success as they continue to serve and protect the citizens and visitors of Commerce. I am leaving to spend time with my family and address matters in my personal life."

The City staff offers their full support and asks the community to wish him and his family well as they move into a new chapter of life.

Chief Beelitz has served in the Commerce Police Department since September 2013. He began to serve as Interim Police Chief in February 2023 and was appointed as Police Chief in June 2023.

The City is working with an executive search firm to place an Interim Police Chief and will begin a full advertisement, review, and interview process to identify the next leader for this critical Department.
