The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) baseball team has clinched the third-place position in Region 14 North of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). With two games left in conference play, the Eagles are gearing up to face Navarro College this weekend at NTCC, weather permitting on Saturday, May 4.
Navarro College will be hosting the Region 14 North tournament. The standings are as follows: Navarro in first place, Tyler Junior College in second, NTCC in third, and Panola College in fourth. Navarro and NTCC will vie against the second and fourth seeds of Region 14 South, respectively, in the upcoming regional tournament hosted by Navarro College. The opponents are yet to be determined.
The team emerging as the winner from Region 14 South will host Tyler Junior College and Panola College in their respective regional tournament. Eventually, the victors from the North and South regions will face off in a Super Regional showdown to determine the representative from Region 14 in the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, slated for May 25-June 1, 2024.
NTCC Baseball boasts a 32-21 record this season, tallying a 16-12 mark in Conference play with two games remaining. The Eagles lead the conference in total games played and at-bats, ranking third in runs scored. Additionally, they are at the forefront in walks and hit by pitches while at bat, with five shutouts to their name for the season.
Region IV North comprises NTCC, Navarro College, Tyler Junior College, Panola College, Angelina College, Paris Junior College, and Bossier Parrish Community College. Meanwhile, the South division includes Blinn College, San Jacinto College-North, Galveston College, Wharton County Junior College, Alvin College, and Coastal Bend College.
