Drew Colvin Named Head Football Coach for Royse City High School

Royse City ISD Athletics is thrilled to introduce Drew Colvin as the new Royse City High School Head Football Coach and Boys Athletic Coordinator. Colvin, coming from Rockwall ISD, where he served as the Offensive Coordinator for Rockwall Football under Trey Brooks for the last three seasons, brings a wealth of experience to the Bulldogs.

With previous roles at Tyler Legacy, Kemp, and Molina, Colvin has established himself as a successful coach, boasting achievements such as leading cutting-edge offenses, breaking losing streaks, and earning multiple playoff appearances. His recent recognition as a finalist for Dave Campbell’s Texas High School Football Offensive Coordinator of the Year highlights his expertise and dedication.

“I could not be more excited to welcome Drew Colvin, his wife Chelsea, and their three girls to our Bulldog Family and the Royse City community. Coach Colvin is an outstanding coach, but an even better person who thrives on building relationships and getting the most out of his athletes. This was a very intensive and thorough process and we wholeheartedly believe we just landed one of the very best football coaches in the state!”, said Director of Athletics, Dallas Bookout. “We cannot wait for Coach Colvin to get started!”

“Royse City is not only a great football job, but more importantly a great family job. RCISD prioritizes athletics and offers resources for its student-athletes to be successful. The administration has a vision that aligns with mine, and for all of these reasons Royse City is a gold mine of a job! I can’t wait to meet the kids and bring both them and the community the fastest, and most exciting brand of football!”, said Colvin in a statement.

Colvin, accompanied by his wife Chelsea and their three daughters, Hattie, Hazel, and Hannah, looks forward to fostering relationships and bringing an exciting brand of football to Royse City High School. He replaces David Petroff, who was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in January.

Coach Colvin holds a history degree from Southwest Assemblies of God University, where he also was a member of the Lion Football team.

The new head coach will officially begin his tenure on Tuesday, February 13th, ready to lead the Bulldogs to success both on and off the field.
